Welcome to the 2011 Hipster Olympics

It has been a wonderful night of drinking PBR, taking photos with flash, and talking about OWS.  Here were the rules for the competition:

There are 5 categories of competition:
1. Photo Contest (team)
2. Found Object
3. Poetry Slam
4. Costume (and description)
5. Gingerbread Art

Points were awarded as follows:
Points for Individual Competitions
-THREE points to the category winner
-TWO points for second place
-ONE point for third place
-TWO points to each member of the winning photo team.

Team Photo Contest

Participants had 45 minutes with their teams to take photos in each of the categories below, and then selected their submissions.  Photos were judged on aesthetic appeal, blurryness, and incomprehensibility.  Here are the entries:

Poems could be original or found poems. They were judged on diction, incoherence, and emotional evocation. Here are the winners:

Costumes

Costumes were judged based on explanation, originality, and execution.  Here are the winners:

Winner: Rachel Vaughan - "I'm a hipster so I wear whatever the F-- I want"

Second Place: Anna Vaughan - "I'm making a statement that I don't have to have a great body to wear a romper"

Third Place: Anna Su - "I think I got most of this in Taiwan; I can't remember"

Gingerbread House Competition

Winner: Nate Miller - "those are fixies out front, and one's a tandem"

Second Place: Donna Vaughan "a lean-to in central park.  That's blood around the edges, because blood is hipster"
